Picacho Hills sits on a hillside west of the Rio Grande, about 6 to 7 miles from downtown Las Cruces, rising above the older Picacho community and the Mesilla Valley. From here the views run across the valley floor to the Organ Mountains, and city lights stretch out below at night. It's a planned community and census-designated place built around the Picacho Hills Country Club, with a population of just under 1,900 at the 2020 census.
